This year so far

mood:
disappointed
Haven't posted in a long time.
So update.
Still working rotating shifts in the same job, however moving on to a 9-5 project for a few months. After this I doubt I will ever work shift again God willing.
My plans to go to Japan encountered tons of problems, makes me want to bash my head against a brick wall.
Also my phone got stolen from in front of me today.
All in all quite a disheartening new year so far.
On the plus the rest of the year should be somewhat exciting. The previously mentioned 9-5 work might ( for the first time in over 5 years ) get my body clock to normal, though I have heard that it take 3 months the effects of long term shift work to dissapear.
Going to visit my brother in Mongolia for two weeks.
Have tickets to the showjumping and rowing for the olympics.

the future

Masters is coming along, finally getting back on to the targets I had set myself for the dissertation. I should have my lit review and survey where I wanted them to be, the whole motivation thing is just as awful as I remember it from 4th year of undergrad. Though with added full time fucked up rotating shift job it really doesn't help. I can't let myself use it as an excuse though or I'll never get anything done! Nearing year 4 of working in my current job, the internal politics I normally avoid due to working shifts are starting to get to me. The shift work, though providing fantastic amounts of annual leave I'll probably never get in any other job, are starting to get to me. I said from the begining I would only work shift for 5 years and I'm looking forward to keeping that promise to myself. Current plan is september hand in disseratation and end of masters! October, recieve masters! apply for JET program and sign up for Japanesse lessons. Hopefully get accepted into JET and off to Japan in June next year.
If I don't get into JET I'm really not sure, but plan is to get out of Ireland and live a non european life for a while, non-anglo culture. No mortgage, no debt I figure if I don't go explore now I'll end up comitting to an early mid life crisis in ten years and won't have thhe freedom to just fuck off like I can now. So heres to running away from Ireland in six months or so.

So living in booterstown now, didn't realise how noisey collinswood was untill my first night in st helens wood. Best nights sleep in a long time, so very very quiet here.
Also noticed the pretty big difference in the quality of the roads compared to the northside... what the hell were the local politicans doing right here that the ones on the northside were doing wrong?

Mar. 14th, 2009 | 10:18 pm
updside to the recession thing, I can probably afford a house. Though it depends entirely on what happens in this next budgget thing in april. But hopes are high, rang up the banks about mortgages and was pretty suprised by how much they would give me. Will probably be buying a house in maynooth the thrid quarter this year if all goes well. My don't I feel all grown up.
